AMHERST, Mass. (abc40) -- It may be a tough time to run your own business but one local entrepreneur is making it work.

24-year old Jared Stenquist started campuslive.com a few years ago while a student at the University of Massachusetts. It is a website that links everything from campus services and events to local businesses and restaurants -all kinds of information a college student may need- on one website.

"The basis of the site is just a hyper-local, super customized site for college students in specific areas," says Stenquist.

Stenquist left college early to work on the business - and it appears to be paying off. The site is now customized to 59 universities across the country and Stenquist says it brought in about 250 thousand dollars in revenue in 2008. At UMass, where the website started, he says it gets about a million hits a month during the school year.

Stenquist now has a partner and five other full time employees. He says he plans to go back to finish college at some point. When he's ready he knows campuslive.com will have all the information he needs to get back at it.
