SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (abc40) -- Interstate 91 is reopen after a water main break flooded the roadway Wednesday morning.

Crews working on the I-91 southbound on ramp hit a pipe around 3:00 Wednesday morning, causing major flooding.  The break also knocked out water to several surrounding areas, near the Forest Park area and East Longmeadow.  Water service has since been restored.  If anyone notices cloudy or murky water, they are asked to run their cold water only for a couple minutes, and it should clear out.

I-91 Southbound reopened around 8:00 a.m. while the Northbound side reopened just before 11:00 a.m.  The on-ramp and off-ramp near Exit 3 remain closed while crews continue repair work.  April Kelly with Springfield Water and Sewer tells ABC40 that work was suspended early Wednesday evening and will resume when the contractor arrives Thursday afternoon.
