HOLYOKE, Mass. (abc40) -- Two Holyoke men accused of attempting to steal parts from Marcotte Ford led police on a lengthy chase on foot, with one evading police capture.

A routine check by police on the Holyoke car dealership early Monday morning found two men taking wheels off a sport utility vehicle in the parking lot. Justin Watkins, 22, of 859 Main St., in Holyoke, was arrested, but one man remains at large.

Four officers and two State Police K9 units responded to a call for backup, finding some of the suspect's clothing, but not the man. A subsequent search was conducted by officers at 859 Main St., in the hopes of finding the other suspect, but only turned up several Ford rims and tires.

The captured suspect, Justin Watkins, is being held on six charges, including larceny, disorderly conduct, and malicious destruction of property.

Holyoke Police Chief Anthony Scott said, "The arrestee is a career criminal with over thirty arraignments and he is only twenty two years old."

Holyoke detectives are conducting a follow-up investigation, and have allegedly learned two other suspects are involved.
