Conn. coach charged with rape to get trial date

Associated Press - September 27, 2009 1:44 PM ET

WOBURN, Mass. (AP) - A judge is expected to set a trial date for a gymnastics coach who is charged with repeatedly raping 1 of his teenage students and molesting another student in the 1990s.

Steven Infante, of New Milford, Conn., was indicted by a Middlesex grand jury in 2007. He has denied the allegations.

Prosecutors said Infante had a secret sexual relationship with the first girl that began when she was 14. Infante is the former owner of Olympia Gymnastics in Brookfield, Conn.

Another coach, Stephen DiTullio, of Littleton, was indicted on a charge of perjury. Prosecutors said he lied when he denied any knowledge of alcohol being provided to the teenage gymnasts.

A judge in Woburn is expected to set a trial date for both men Wednesday during a pretrial conference.
