WEST SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WGGB) -- A suspect is under arrest in Wisconsin for the kidnapping of a car salesman and then stealing the car.
West Springfield Police Capt. Jay Lane tells ABC40 and FOX 6 that around 3:30 Friday morning, Aleh Kot of West Springfield was picked up by Wisconsin State Police after driving erratically and fast in Janesville, Wisc. When they pulled him over, they discovered the car was stolen out of West Springfield.
He faces a charge of using a car without the owner's authority and is being held in Wisconsin until West Springfield Police go to court and file paperwork to bring him back to Massachusetts. He faces charges in West Springfield of kidnapping, larceny of a motor vehicle, unarmed robbery, and assault and battery.
Around 2:00 Thursday afternoon, it is alleged that Kot went out on a test drive with a salesman from Balise Honda on Riverdale Road. The driver, said Balise Motor Sales President Mike Balise, didn't stop or slow down and continued down the Mass. Pike. The salesman was later dumped off at Exit 1 westbound in West Stockbridge. He was then able to call police for help.
The salesman was shaken up, but otherwise unharmed. Balise notes that no weapon was shown during the incident.
