HOLYOKE, Mass. (abc40)-- Governor Patrick brought good economic news to Holyoke on Wednesday.
He says a 100-million dollar high perfdormance computer center is on schedule for the city of Holyoke.
Groundbreaking for the center is slated for the Fall of 2010 with completion in late 2011.
The governor along with local business and academic leaders held a news conference at Holyoke Community College. Governor Patrick says, "The center will serve as an anchor of a highly competitive and vibrant innovation district in the Pioneer Valley."
Officals say the private-public collaboration which recently completed a successful 120-day planning process will establish Massachusetts as a global leader in the development and application of the next generation of computing technologies.
No specific site was unveiled but leaders have been talking about putting the center along Holyoke's canal system to take advantage of the city's hydro-electirc power.
