HOLYOKE, Mass. (WGGB) -- A Holyoke man was arrested Thursday after being involved in a fight with a gun and then fleeing from police, according to Chief Anthony R. Scott of the Holyoke Police Department.
Angel Almodovar, 32, of North Summer Street, fled from police after being identified as one of the men involved in a fight with a gun, according to police. Almodovar allegedly led Holyoke Police on a chase through the South East Street area until he was finally apprehended on the fourth floor of 567 South East St., according to Scott.
Police allegedly found the firearm on Almodovar's person during the time of his arrest. He is being charged with disorderly conduct, possession or carrying a loaded firearm, carrying a dangerous weapon, and breaking and entering, according to officials.
In May, 2009, Almodovar pleaded guilty to a previous charge of resisting arrest, disorderly conduct by refusing to disperse and assault and battery on a police officer, according to police reports.
Almodovar will be back in Holyoke District Court Dec. 18 for a pre-trial hearing.
Scott said police have removed five illegal guns from the streets of the city in two weeks.
