STURBRIDGE, Mass. (WGGB) -- Police arrested a Charlton man working at a J.C. Penny Department store after he allegedly sexually assaulted a child Tuesday, according to Police Chief Thomas J. Ford III.
Police responded to the store located on Route 131 shortly before 6 p.m. Tuesday. The sales associate at the store was investigated as a result of the investigation for allegedly sexually assaulting a child under the age of 14 in a changing area, according to reports.
Francisco Wellington Barros-Gomes, 26, of Charlton, is being charged with indecent assault and battery on a child under 14 and rape of a child with force, according to police.
Barros-Gomes was arraigned in Dudley District court Wednesday after being held overnight at the Sturbridge Police Department, according to officials.
