LONGMEADOW, Mass. (WGGB) -- A dump truck crash involving a second vehicle has sent one person to the hospital and left quite a mess on Converse Street Friday afternoon, resulting in officials closing down the busy road.
Sgt. Sandler of the Longmeadow Police tells ABC 40 and Fox 6 that a vehicle traveling west on Converse Street swerved into oncoming traffic for an unknown reason. At that time, a dump truck traveling east attempted to avoid the vehicle and in doing so clipped the vehicles side and turned over, landing right on top of the vehicle.
Longmeadow Fire Department was called into to remove the driver of the car with the jaws-of-life. The driver, who has been identified as a 73-year-old Somers, CT woman was transported to Baystate Medical with unknown injuries, the driver of the truck was not transported.
The truck has spilled its sandy contents out on to the road in front of 527 Converse St. It took crews almost 2 hours to clean up the whole mess and reopen the road.
State Police are assisting Longmeadow Police in the investigation as to what caused the accident.
