WILBRAHAM, Mass. (WGGB) -- Wilbraham Police are investigating a Saturday afternoon accident that has now claimed the life of an elderly man.

Wilbraham Police tell ABC 40 and Fox 6 that Saturday afternoon at 3:15 p.m. they responded to a report of a motor vehicle crash in the area of 572 Monson Rd.

Responding Officers Peter Laviolette and Thomas Korzec found a single vehicle which had struck a large boulder and a tree.

The driver, 86-year old Samuel Gurley of Hampden was transported to Baystate Medical Center by Monson Fire with serious injuries.  Gurley succumb to his injuries several hours later and died at Baystate.

Wilbraham Police continue to investigate the accident; speed does not appear to be a factor, though Gurley was not wearing his seatbelt at the time of the crash.
