SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WGGB) -- A brother and sister have been arrested for allegedly robbing a pizza delivery man of a pizza and $40 after spraying him in the face with Mace, according to police.
Lindsey Marie Molina-Hutchinson, 27, of 19 Hughes St., Apt. 2-R, and Kenneth Lamontagne, 39, of 304 Page Boulevard, are both facing charges of armed robbery and assault and battery with a dangerous weapon for the Jan. 7 attack, according to Springfield Police Department Sgt. John Delaney. The arrests were announced after police found Lamontagne allegedly hiding inside of a closet at 133 White St., early Monday morning.
"The police work involved in this investigation was outstanding from every officer bringing these two criminals to justice," states Delaney in a release sent to the media Monday.
According to Delaney, a driver for a local Domino's Pizza location had been robbed in front of 17 Litchfield St., around 11 p.m. Jan. 17. The driver was allegedly sprayed in the face with a mace-like substance, according to police, who added the driver told investigators a man and woman had committed the robbery and ran down Garfield Street after taking the money. The driver was treated at Baystate Medical Center and later released, according to Delaney.
As part of the investigation into the robbery, police were able to link Molina-Hutchinson, who lived close to where the alleged robbery took place, to the crime and the driver allegedly identified her as one of his attackers when police showed him her photograph. Police obtained a warrant for her arrest and took her into custody Jan. 15, according to Delaney. Her arrest eventually led to the arrest of her brother Monday morning.
The siblings had been scheduled to be arraigned Monday in Springfield District Court.
