SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (abc40) - Springfield Police tell ABC40 that a man wanted in the robbery of a Ludlow bank, and the attempted robberies of banks in Springfield and Holyoke, was arrested Friday afternoon.
Darren Crosby was picked up around 4:00 Friday afternoon on an outstanding warrant, according to the Springfield Police Detective Bureau. He will be arraigned Monday in Springfield District Court. Ludlow Police tell ABC40 that they intend to bring charges including Larceny over $250 and Armed Robbery against Crosby in relation to a bank robbery that occurred in their town.
According to Holyoke police, a man walked into the PeoplesBank on South Street Thursday morning and allegedly appeared to be handing the teller a note but became spooked and ran from the bank, through the yard of a dentist's office, jumped over a fence and was last scene running toward Route 5. The suspect was described as a 5 foot 10 inch tall man with a mustache and goatee wearing a blue jacket and a white hat, according to police.
Shortly after noon the same day, a man matching the same description walked into the Bank of America, located at 3065 Main St., Springfield, walked into the bank, handed the teller a note demanding money and stating he had a gun, according to police. However he fled the bank before getting any money after possibly spotting a passing police car, according to police.
