Walking with Winnie

PELHAM, Mass. (abc40) -- Tough economic times are forcing one local woman to make the journey of a lifetime.

Ann byrns is a victim of the slowing economy. Recently, she lost her business, and like so many, started losing hope.

But there was one thing that kept her waking up every morning, and that was her horse Winnie. Winnie is a resuce mustang, and together they're hoofing it from Massachusetts to Paradise, Calif.

Byrns doesn't have money for a trailer and figured her feet were the next best thing.

She left earlier this week and her first goal is to make it across the Hudson River.

She hopes to winter in Kansas, and make it to California by the beginning of 2010.

Though the journey is over 3,000 miles, it's one she's willing to make as long as she's with Winnie.

Though the road's been tough and the journey ahead is long, Byrns says she's counting her blessings.
