SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WGGB) -- The Dakin Pioneer Valley Humane Society was given a big helping paw just ahead of the new year as Pampered Pet Sitting of Easthampton has donated a truck load of food and supplies.

The donation comes during a busy period for the animal shelter, which saw a combined 20 animals get new homes from the agency's Leverett and Springfield locations on Christmas Eve and another 35 the day after Christmas.

Dakin spokesperson Candy Lash said the shelters still have plenty of kittens, along with rabbits and other small animals looking for new homes
