HOLYOKE, Mass. (ABC40) -- Holyoke Police are searching for a purple van that may have been involved in an attempted kidnapping early Wednesday evening.

Holyoke Police Sgt. Daniel Reardon tells ABC40 that around 7:00 Wednesday night, a 14-year-old girl was walking in the area of Walnut Street and Cabot Street in Holyoke when she was forced into a purple commercial-style van.

The girl was then able to free herself when the van came to a stop near Mayers Field on Westfield Road.  She then made her way home and reunited with her family when her mother called 911 around 8:00 p.m.  The girl was not physically harmed.

The van is described as a large purple commercial-style van with silver wheels.  The van does not have any side windows, only drivers side and passenger side windows, and a windshield.  It was being driven by a white male described as approximately 40-years-old, and 5 feet 8 inches tall.

Holyoke Police continue to investigate the case.  Anyone with any information is asked to contact Holyoke Police at 413-536-6431.
