MDA Show of Strength Telethon – Tonight on ABC40

MDA2014-320

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WGGB) — The MDA telethon has been a Labor Day weekend tradition for nearly 50 years and again this year, ABC40 is proud to be present it to western Massachusetts.

Tune in tonight, beginning at 9 p.m., for the MDA Show of Strength as the entertainment industry gathers to join forces to raise money and awareness for Muscular Dystrophy and muscle-related diseases.

“MDA’s telethon gives us a chance to celebrate the compassionate support of our celebrity friends, sponsors and individuals in communities across the country who give generously to help save and improve lives of those fighting muscle disease. With clinical trials of potential new therapies underway, this is a time of hope and progress for the children and adults we serve. We urge families and friends to gather together on Aug. 31 to watch, whether via broadcast or online, and see the fantastic performers and inspiring stories of those who are fighting muscle disease with grace and courage,” explains MDA President and CEO Steven Derks.

Presenters this year include Brad Paisley, Tom Bergeron, Susan Lucci, Jodrin Sparks, Pete Wentz, and many more.

Artists scheduled to perform include Rascal Flatts, LeAnn Rimes, Josh Groban, Fall Out Boy, Aloe Blacc, and R5.

Also this year, viewers will have more ways to connect with the Telethon:

  • You can visit mda.org/showofstrength, which will have an online telethon tote board, tracking donations made, and exclusive behind-the-scenes footage with the entertainers and MDA families
  • Viewers are also asked to share their favorit MDA memories and remembrances on how MDA and the telethon has touched your life or those of others by using #MDAmemories on Twitter
  • Join in on the conversation on Sunday by using #MDATelethon
