Nancy A. Balin, MD, FACS
Nancy A. Balin, MD, FACS received her medical degree from the prominent University of Pennsylvania School of medicine. She then served as chief resident at the Albany Medical Center in Albany, New York. After finishing her residency, Dr. Balin completed a Fellowship in cornea and anterior segment surgery with highest honors.
Shortly after relocating to western Massachusetts, Dr. Balin established the Balin Eye & Laser Center, a full service eye care facility. The mission of the center is to provide the most technologically advanced treatments and options in eye care today to the residents of western Massachusetts.
As a leader in the field of vision correction, Dr. Balin was the first surgeon in western Massachusetts to perform laser vision correction. Her surgical specialties include iLASIK (a technology so advanced that it is approved for military fighters and NASA astronauts) CustomVue, Lasik and PRK. For patients too nearsighted for laser vision correction, Dr. Balin implants a lens that acts as a contact lens in the eye to correct vision. As a courtesy to our patients we offer free Lasik consults to educate our patients about the different options and technologies available in vision correction.
An expert Cataract surgeon, Dr. Balin has incorporated the most advanced lens implants into her surgeries. Now patients have a choice between a traditional monofocal implant or one of the more advanced multifocal or accommodating lens implants. Patients who choose a multifocal or accommodating lens implant may not need glasses for distance or reading after their surgery.
The Balin Eye & Laser Center is a recognized leader in the field of eye care. Dr. Balin’s expertise and dedication to quality medical care has earned her unprecedented recognition throughout western Massachusetts. Dr. Balin has been the recipient of many awards including being voted the Best Eye Doctor in the Valley Advocate Poll for nine years. She has also been elected by her peers for inclusion in Best Doctors in America from 2009-2010.
